Russell Brand wins apology from the Daily Star

27 October 2009

> Read apology from the Daily Star

Russell Brand, the comedian, and his agent Phil McIntyre Entertainment have won an apology and substantial damages from the Daily Star over an article printed in April 2009. The article claimed that tickets for Brand's O2 show had been sold at rock bottom prices suggesting that the shows were not a success.

The Daily Star accepted that this was not correct. In fact the shows were sold out. In their apology the Daily Star said:

"We accept that this [the article] is not correct. In fact all of Russell's gigs on his recent tour, including his O2 gig have been sold out". The apology goes on to say "we would like to apologise to Russell and Phil McIntyre Entertainment for any distress and embarrassment caused."
