Arquette wins drug claim damages - BBC, 3 March 2008

On 30 November 2007, Rosanna Arquette complained to News Group Newspapers Limited in connection with allegations they had made about her in an article published in the News of the World on 25 November 2007.

Now, on page 9 of this week’s News of the World, the paper has apologised. The apology said:

"Rosanna Arquette – An Apology

Our November 25 article about Rosanna Arquette wrongly stated that she has “battled with drug problems”. In fact, her only involvement with drugs was when she experimented with Marijuana when she was a teenager some 30 years ago. We are happy to clarify the situation and apologise to Ms Arquette for any distress caused.”

The paper has also agreed to pay her damages and costs. Rosanna Arquette will be donating those damages to The Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. Rosanna said last night: “This upsetting and untrue allegation has caused me a lot of distress. I felt it was something I had to take action about and I feel so much better now that the true position has been made clear.”
