Rafael Benitez wins apology from Daily Mirror

The Daily Mirror has today apologised to Rafael Benítez over false allegations that the Liverpool manager was obsessed with Jaffa Cakes.
The Daily Mirror agreed to pay legal costs and a sum of damages, which Mr Benítez has donated to charity. The following apology appeared on page 13 of today’s Mirror

In January we published an article entitled "Jaffa Benitez" which reported that Rafael Benitez was obsessed with Jaffa Cakes, had required his players to eat them after training sessions and had the cakes specially flown to his home in Madrid. Unfortunately the news agency which supplied the story got it wrong and the article was untrue. Rafa had not even heard of Jaffa Cakes until the article was published!
