The Sun apologises to Man City over false Messi claims

The Sun today published the following apology following false claims that the Club were preparing a £100m bid for Barcelona player Lionel Messi:

MAN CITY AND SULAIMAN AL FAHIM
The Sun ran a story on Thursday morning claiming Manchester City were targeting Lionel Messi.
The story, supplied to us by a leading sports agency suggested Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim was looking forward to bringing Messi to the club.
The Sun now accept that, though Dr Fahim helped broker the sale of Manchester City in September, he has had no further involvement with the club.
His thoughts about Messi were therefore entirely private and had nothing to do with City.
We would like to apologise unreservedly for any embarrassment this has caused City and their legitimate owner, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and his club Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak and Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim’
