In an article entitled "Should Kate Winslet win an Oscar for the World's most irritating actress?", published shortly before the Academy Awards,  the Mail alleged that Miss Winslet had lied publicly about her exercise regime.  Despite an immediate request for an apology, the Mail’s refusal to comply has regrettably forced Miss Winslet to take action.

A Schillings spokesperson said: "Kate is taking this step in response to an unwarranted attack on her integrity and because it concerns an area in which the media have cast her as a role model for young women, a role which she takes very seriously."
