Andrew Cole issues libel proceedings against Express Newspapers

Andrew Cole, the former English footballer, has today issued libel proceedings against the Express Newspapers in relation to the Daily Star having called him a wife beater.
Andrew Cole said: “The allegations published by the Daily Star on 26 February 2008 have caused considerable upset and distress not only to myself but also my family. Despite my best efforts to secure a suitable apology and correction from the paper I have regrettably been left no alternative than to instruct my legal advisors to issue proceedings to clear my name and reputation.”
We confirm we have today issued libel proceedings on behalf of our client Andrew Cole against Express Newspapers in the High Court in London.
