The People apologises to Liverpool FC and Andy Carroll

The People has apologised to Liverpool FC and its striker Andy Carroll following a false article which appeared in the newspaper the previous week.
The apology, which was published next to the People's preview coverage of the Liverpool v Manchester City game, also appeared on the People's website and was Tweeted on the @PeopleSport Twitter feed.
The full text of the apology appears below:
"Liverpool FC and Andy Carroll
Last weekend we ran a story entitled “Do or Diet” in which we said that Liverpool have placed Andy Carroll on a 12 month regime to monitor his lifestyle, dietary and drinking habits. This is incorrect. The Club have confirmed that Andy has not been placed under any such regime and we are happy to set the record straight. We apologise to Liverpool and Andy for the error"
