As part of Schillings’ work with the Rugby Players’ Association Schillings Senior Associate Matt Himsworth presented the firm’s Players’ Privacy Briefing to the new inductees into the Aviva Rugby Premiership’s Academies at Loughborough University on 16 August this year.

The session, which has also been presented to first team squads across the Aviva Premiership as well as to Championship and Premier League football squads, county cricket squads, the Wales six nations rugby squad and the England cricket performance squad, focuses on protecting player’s private information and understanding the relationship between sportsmen and the modern media.

Howard Graham, Academy coach at Harlequins said, “The day delivered some important messages for our new Academy Players and did that in a very good way, giving the players tips about how they can protect themselves against some of the pitfalls of being a professional player ... Allowing the boys to hear from external experts, such as media lawyers and former professional players who have been through the experience themselves had a strong impact, as it’s good to hear advice from the horse’s mouth”
